Posted on Wednesday April 19, 2017
Michael Pinball Clemons, along with 14 Foodbanks, 8 Police Services and 24 communities will unite to fill the foodbanks for the summer

April 18, 2017 TORONTO; Michael Pinball Clemons, invites you to join him along with the Air Canada Foundation and Purolator for an announcement of the exciting JUST GIVE Campaign on Wednesday, April 19th. They will be joined by 8 Regional Police Representatives, 14 Foodbanks representing Niagara, Waterloo, Hamilton, Halton, Peel, Toronto, York and Durham Regions along with community leaders from 24 communities throughout the GTA as they announce their plans to fill the food banks for the summer.
JUST GIVE is a campaign designed to inspire kindness throughout our communities by filling the food banks for the summer; a time when they are usually empty and client visits increase. Most support their local food bank during Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The JUST GIVE Food Drive will fill the gap between Easter and Thanksgiving.

With over 850,000 people visiting food banks in Canada each month and 1/3 of those being children the issue of hunger in Canada is one that cannot be ignored. Through the Purolator Tackle Hunger program we are committed to working with food sharing organizations across Canada as well as leaders in the community like the Pinball Foundation to make a positive difference in the lives of others said Karen White Director of Corporate Communications with Purolator.

Last year, hundreds of schools from Durham to Niagara came together and raised over 440,000 pounds of food! This year our goal is to donate the equivalent of 1.5 million pounds of food in May. To kick things off we have a generous, anonymous donor who has agreed to support JUST GIVE with a matching gift of $250,000. We will match this amount and disperse $500,000 to food banks from Durham to Niagara before we even collect one pound of food next month.

A staggering 1 in 3 people that access the Foodbank in Ontario are children, said Michael Pinball Clemons. We consistently reinforce education as the catalyst to success. However, when you cant eat, you cant compete in the classroom or on the playing field. Our goal is to help ensure every Canadian live with dignity in difficult times. Chances are youll help a neighbour, relative or a friend. 100% of each donation goes directly to the Food Bank in your community.

Every dollar raised = 2.5 pounds of food. The matching gift will go a long way to ensure no one goes hungry in our communities.  The JUST GIVE campaign runs on a zero budget and 100% of the donations will reach the food banks.
