Since the beginning of April Police have been receiving information about an illegal marihuana dispensary operating on Wright Street, St. Catharines. As a result, Police obtained a search warrant to enter and search this location.
On April 19th, 2017 at approximately 2:00 pm the warrant was executed and several people were arrested. Police located and seized 2902 grams of processed marihuana, 135 grams of shatter, 322 pre rolled marihuana cigarettes. and , 370 marihuana oil capsules, and $4,650.00 in cash. The drugs have a street value of $39,500.00.
Charged with 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and 1 count of Possession of Proceeds of Crime are 38-year-old Angela Millar, and 32-year-old Abbigail Millar. Both accused have been released from custody and will return to court in June to answer to these charges.
Police are reminding members of the public that marihuana dispensaries are illegal, and the sale of marihuana from these locations is considered trafficking. Unfortunately members of the public believe that marihuana dispensaries are in a "grey" area, and they are not. At this point in time marihuana can only be obtained through medical authorization. Police will continue to monitor and actively investigate these types of businesses.
