The Niagara Regional Police Service Central Fraud Unit is investigating after an elderly couple from Niagara Falls became victims to a gift card fraud scam.
The initial investigation has determined that on May 12, 2022, the suspects made contact with the victims through a “pop up” on their computer. The scammers then contacted the victims by telephone. In an effort to bring further attention and deterrence to driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, the Niagara Regional Police Service will be reporting the names of those people who are charged with an alleged criminal impaired driving offence in the Region.

On May 18, 2022, at approximately 9:35am an officer with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Traffic Enforcement Unit was on patrol in the area of Queenston Street and Frank Street in St. Catharines.

As a result of the ongoing police investigation into this matter by the Welland Street Crime Unit a suspect was identified.
The suspect was also linked to three break and enter attempts in Welland. Two at a church on Niagara Street near Locust Street on May 14th and 15th and one at an apartment building on Niagara Street near West Main Street on May 13, 2022.

On Sunday May 15, 2022, 3 District Welland uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a report of multiple break and enters at a mall/plaza at 17 East Main Street in Welland.
The initial investigation determined that a contractor working on site discovered that an exterior entrance door had been damaged and then once inside four businesses were targeted by thieves. Two businesses were entered by the thieves and two showed signs of attempted forced entry and damage. ...
