On the evening of Saturday September 23, 2017 members of the Niagara Regional Police Service, Traffic Enforcement Unit conducted a R.I.D.E. check in the cities of St. Catharines and Thorold. Officers stopped approximately 350 vehicles. Of those drivers stopped 2 were required to provide breath samples for suspected alcohol consumption resulting in 1 driver being issued being a 3 day license suspension after registering an alert on an approved screening device. On Thursday, September 21, 2017 members of the Central Region Street Crime Unit conducted a drug investigation into a suspected Heroin and Methamphetamine Trafficker operating from a Welland residence.   The investigation concluded with multiple arrests and the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a Hellems Avenue Welland residence.  During the course of the investigation, Police seized 96.7 grams of suspected methamphetamine (street...

At approximately 8:10pm on Wednesday September 20, 2017 officers were called to the area of Tremont Drive and Glendale Ave in the City of St. Catharines following reports of gunshots.   When 1-District (St. Catharines) uniform officers and EMS arrived on the scene, one man was located with injuries.  He was transported to a local hospital then airlifted to an out-of-town hospital for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.   No arrests have...
