Drugs - WELLAND DRUG INVESTIGATION CONCLUDED

On Thursday, May 11, 2018, the Niagara Regional Police - 3 District Street Crime Unit, in partnership with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, concluded an investigation in the City of Welland involving the sale of drugs. As a result, two people have been arrested and charged with multiple offences.
 
The investigation began in early spring and focused on a male that was believed to be trafficking heroin and fentanyl from a Welland residence. At approximately 5:00 pm, two males were arrested and a search warrant was later executed at a residence on Patsy Avenue.
 
The two accused face a combined total of 22 charges as a result of this investigation. The charges are as follows:
 
Robert Adams (42 years) has been charged with 15 offences:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance - Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (8 counts)
2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime with a value exceeding $5000 - Contrary to Section 355(a) of the Criminal Code
3. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime with a value not exceeding $5000 - Contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
4. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon - Contrary to Section 92(2) of the Criminal Code
5. Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest - Contrary to Section 270 of the Criminal Code
6. Breach of Probation - Contrary to Section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code (3 Counts)
 
Kyle Adams (18 years) has been charged with 7 offences:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a Controlled Substance - Contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (5 counts)
2. Possession of Property Obtained by Crime with a value not exceeding $5000 - Contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code
3. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon - Contrary to Section 92(2) of the Criminal Code
Drugs seized as a part of this investigation included, methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, MDMA and Xanax. The estimated street value of the drugs seized was $12,715.00. Police also seized $5735.00 in currency believed to be from the sale of drugs.
 
Both of the accused have been held in custody pending a bail hearing in the City of St. Catharines on Friday, May 11, 2018, in the City of St. Catharines.
