Other - UPDATE 1 - Suspicious Sudden Death in St. Catharines

Upon completion of the post mortem examination, the male victim has been identified as 60 year old Glenn Joseph Hewer of the City of St. Catharines.
 
Next of kin have been notified.  The results of the examination are not being released.
 
The investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Service is ongoing; anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at (905) 688-4111, ext 4322
 
ORIGINAL RELEASE Friday April 13, 2018
 
At approximately 1:21am on Friday April 13, 2018, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District - St. Catharines uniform officers were called to Queenston Street in St. Catharines (between Calvin Street and Church Street).
 
A member of the public had been walking in the area when they discovered an injured male lying on the sidewalk.
 
The male was treated at the scene by paramedics from Niagara Emergency Medical Service and transported to a local hospital.
 
The male died at the hospital.
 
The death is being treated as suspicious by detectives.
 
Ground searches and canvassing of the neighbourhood will be taking place.
 
The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined.
