Officers have arrested three people following a guns and drug investigation at a multi-unit residence on Niagara Street near Church Street in St. Catharines.

On March 24, 2020, at approximately 2:25pm uniform officers from the 1 District – St. Catharines office of the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a residence on Niagara Street near Church Street in St. Catharines for a report of men on scene with guns.

Uniform officers assisted by members of the Emergency Task Unit (ETU) and the K9 Unit attended and conducted and an investigation. While on scene officers observed what was believed to be illegal drugs.  Officers arrested two adults (woman and man), along with a male youth at the scene.  No firearms were located.

Detectives from the 1 District Street Crime Unit assisted by detectives from the Guns, Gangs and Grows Unit applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence and a car that was on scene.

As a result of the search warrant detectives found and seized:

  • Fentanyl ($22,000)
  • Cocaine ($5000)

Detectives also seized $670 in Canadian currency believed to be proceeds of crime.

Samantha May Alligood (30 years old) of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the alleged criminal offences of:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Fentanyl -  sec. 5(2) of the  Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Schakeil Nixon (23 years old) of Hamilton was arrested and charged with the alleged criminal offences of:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Fentanyl -  sec. 5(2) of the  Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine - sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000355(b) sec. 355(b) of the Criminal Code

A 17 year old male youth from Hamilton was arrested and charged with the alleged criminal offences of:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Fentanyl -  sec. 5(2) of the  Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - Cocaine - sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000355(b) sec. 355(b) of the Criminal Code

The 17 year old cannot be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada.

Alligood, Nixon and the youth male were held in custody to appear at a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse on March 25, 2020.
