On Thursday September 12, 2024, the Child Abuse Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into a sexual assault that occurred at St. Catharines Collegiate, located at 34 Catherine Street in the City of St. Catharines.
Investigation revealed a caretaker from St. Catharines Collegiate had touched a student, under the age of 16 years, in a sexual manner at this location during school hours.
As a result, on September 18, 2024, Lawrence PAROYAN (56 years old) of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Interference
PAROYAN was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on September 19, 2024, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in the City of St. Catharines.
Detectives have reason to believe there may be more victims.
