Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service continue to investigate the series of damage incidents that have occurred across the Niagara Region.

A suspect and car photo were obtained from a recent incident in St. Catharines / Thorold.  The image of the suspect is of poor quality; however, the car may be more recognizable.

Original Release - June 30, 2022

Detectives from multiple districts of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) are investigating further incidents of overnight damage to parked cars.

On June 28, 2022, 8 District Grimsby uniform officers and detectives commenced investigations into 16 incidents of damage from large garden / driveway rocks being thrown through parked car windows and one house window.

On June 30, 2022, NRPS officers commenced 18 damage investigations in St. Catharines (four), Thorold (four), Niagara Falls (six), Niagara on the Lake (one), and Pelham (three).  This number may increase as members of the public could discover further damage.

The incidents are believed to have occurred in the early morning hours of June 30, 2022. The nature of the damage is similar to the June 28, 2022, incidents where large rocks are being thrown through parked car windows. The cumulative damage of the June 30th incidents is expected to be in excess of $20,000.

The June 30th incidents occurred in the following areas:

  • St. Catharines – Martindale Road, Seventh Street, Chartwell Court
  • Thorold – Juneberry Road, Keefer Road, Hawthorn Avenue, Kenny Court
  • Niagara Falls – Northwood Drive, Oakridge Drive, Cardinal Drive
  • Niagara on the Lake – Four Mile Creek Road
  • Pelham – Buckley Trail, Lookout Street, Timmsdale Crescent

At the time of this release no new suspect description is available from the June 30, 2022, incidents.  Information from the June 28, 2022, investigation described that suspect as:

  • White male
  • Approximately 6 feet tall, thin
  • Shirtless
  • Dark pants
  • Dark baseball hat
  • Blue medical mask

The suspect was believed to be operating a dark-coloured car, similar to a Honda Civic.

The incidents are believed to have occurred between 12:00am and 6:00am on June 30, 2022. Anyone (residents or businesses) in the involved areas with closed circuit security cameras, doorbell video cameras, or operational dash cameras are asked to review their footage for suspicious activity for the period when the offences are believed to have occurred.

Some of the stones that were used to damage the windows are similar to garden and / or driveway stones.  Members of the public who find they are missing similar stones are asked to contact the detectives (see photo).
