Collision Reconstruction Unit Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at approximately 6:45 AM, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers were dispatched to the area of Portage Road near Stanley Avenue in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake for a motor vehicle collision.

Upon arrival, officers located a two-vehicle head-on collision. One of the drivers was located without vital signs, and life-saving measures were commenced by Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS). Tragically, the driver was pronounced as deceased at the scene. A second involved driver experienced non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by NEMS to a local hospital.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) has taken carriage of the investigation, with early information suggesting that the deceased driver suffered a medical episode while operating a motor vehicle.
