Evening R.I.D.E. Campaign in St. Catharines Results in One Arrest

On Thursday, March 12, 2026, officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) along with uniformed officers from 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) conducted an evening R.I.D.E. campaign in the Welland Avenue and Dieppe Road area of St. Catharines

During the proactive enforcement initiative 11 Provincial Offences Notices (tickets) were issued along with 5 warnings.  4 demands were made for drivers to provide breath samples into an Approved Screening Device (ASD).  One driver registered a "FAIL" and was arrested for Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Exceed BAC.

The Niagara Regional Police Service remains committed to reducing impaired driving offences through education and the apprehension of offenders through enforcement programs like RIDE.

Impaired driving remains the leading criminal offence causing death in Canada.

This initiative has been made possible, in part, because of funding from the Ministry of the Solicitor General as part of the Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program.
