Fatal Fire Investigation - St Catharines

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 3:15 am, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Glendale Avenue in St Catharines, when they observed a fire within a forested area of Mountain Locks Park.

Officers attended the area and located a large active fire involving a tent in a wooded area. St Catharines Fire Services attended the location and extinguished the fire, which resulted in locating one deceased male.

1 District Criminal Investigative Branch (CIB) has taken carriage of the investigation, in cooperation with the Ontario Fire Marshall.  Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Niagara Regional Police Service at (905) 688-4111, option 3, extension 1009865.
