Neighbourhood Watch in Niagara
The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) is proud to launch Neighbourhood Watch. At its core, this approach is about neighbours looking out for one another, building awareness, sharing information responsibly and understanding when and how to report concerns.
By working alongside residents and providing practical resources and direct points of contact, the NRPS aims to support safer neighbourhoods while ensuring clear boundaries that prioritize lawful reporting.
Neighbourhood Watch is community-led. The NRPS will play a supportive advisory and educational role to help Neighbourhood Watch groups promote awareness, reporting, and prevention while ensuring safety and accountability.
What the public should know.
- Neighbourhood Watch is not enforcement - It is awareness and reporting
- Crime should always be reported directly to police - Not solely to social media
- The Service provides guidance, resources, and direct contact to support organized groups through the Community Oriented Response and Engagement (CORE) Unit
