49-Year-Old Male Injured in E-Scooter Collision in St. Catharines

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines Thorold) uniform officers responded to reports of an injured male on Lighthouse Road in the Port Dalhousie area of St. Catharines.

Officers arrived on scene near the north end of Lighthouse Road to find Niagara Emergency Medical Services and St. Catharines Fire Services treating a 49-year-old St. Catharines male that had suffered severe injuries.

The male was transported to an out-of-region hospital for treatment.  His condition remains life-threatening.

Investigation revealed that the male had been operating a E-Scooter, lost control and struck his head.

Detectives with the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) have taken carriage of the investigation.  The road was shut down while they processed the scene along with the Forensic Services Unit (FSU).  The road has since been re-opened.

Detectives are asking for anyone who witnessed this incident, or if anyone in the area has security video footage, to contact them at 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009504.
