62-year-old Fort Erie Man Arrested in Shooting Investigation
On Tuesday, August 11, 2026, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers responded to an Urgent Care Centre on Bertie Street in Fort Erie for a 54-year-old male who had been shot.
Responding officers spoke with the victim and identified an address on Fox Road where the shooting occurred. The Emergency Task Unit (ETU) was deployed to the residence, and a suspect was arrested without incident.
62-year-old Frederick AUGUST of Fort Erie is charged with the following criminal offences:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound
- Possess Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License
AUGUST remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St Catharines.
