Hamilton Man Arrested in Vehicle Theft Investigation - Grimsby

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) uniform officers responded to a residence on Robinson Street North in the Town of Grimsby for a vehicle theft.

Investigating officers learned that a 2019 Toyota Rav4 had been stolen overnight. Officers learned that several personal items were contained within the vehicle, including a set of stolen golf clubs. On Sunday, May 24, 2026, a suspect posted an ad on Facebook Marketplace for golf clubs which matched the description of the stolen clubs.

Detectives with the 8 District Criminal Investigative Branch (CIB) took carriage of the investigation, and arrangements were made to purchase the clubs. An address was provided at a residence located on King Street East in the City of Hamilton.

Detectives applied for and were subsequently granted a judicial search warrant for the residence. On Monday, May 25, 2026, detectives attended the residence for the purpose of executing the search warrant. The suspect attempted to flee the residence by jumping from a second storey balcony, however he was arrested at approximately 7:25 PM.

Detectives searched the residence and recovered the stolen golf clubs, which were subsequently returned to their rightful owner. The stolen Toyota Rav4 was recovered by the Hamilton Police Service on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
