Lincoln Man Arrested, $16,553 in Stolen Property Recovered
In July 2026, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) Criminal Investigative Branch (CIB) began an investigation into the theft of building materials from construction sites in Lincoln and West Lincoln.
A suspect was identified and a judicial search warrant was granted for a rural property on Merritt Road in the Town of Lincoln. On Thursday July 23, 2026, detectives executed the search warrant with the assistance of the Emergency Task Unit (ETU) and 3 District Street Crime Unit (SCU). As a result of the investigation, the following items were recovered:
- 60 Sheets of Orange Concrete Forming Plywood
- 90 Pieces of ½” Plywood
- 264 Pieces of 2”x4”x8’ Lumber
- 700 Litres of Diesel Fuel
- $4800 in Canadian Currency
The total estimated value of recovered stolen property is $16,553.
55-year-old Manuel PEREIRA of Lincoln was arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:
- Theft over $5000 (2 counts)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
- Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000
PEREIRA remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St Catharines.

Detectives are appealing to the public for assistance locating a stolen Wacker Neuson tamper, valued at approximately $20,000. The serial number for the tamper is #10274586. Detectives believe that the tamper may have been recently sold and are asking anyone who may have recently purchased a tamper, or who may have information to assist in the recovery, to contact police at 9702@niagarapolice.ca.
