Male Pedestrian Struck in Fail to Remain Collision in St. Catharines
On August 20, 2026, at approximately 12:18 p.m. uniformed officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) responded to a report of a pedestrian being struck on Church Street near Clarke Street in St. Catharines.
Officers arrived on scene to find a 39-year-old St. Catharines male suffering from serious injuries as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle. The male was transported to hospital for treatment.
The vehicle failed to stop at the scene.
Detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) have taken carriage of the investigation. They processed the scene and the road has since been re-opened.
Detectives have identified a suspect vehicle. The vehicle is described as a black Infiniti sedan. That vehicle was travelling southeast on Court Street between Welland Avenue and Church Street and then turned right onto Church Street. The vehicle stuck the pedestrian on the north side of the road near Clarke Street.
Detectives are asking the public’s assistance for anyone with security or dashcam video footage of the area at the time to contact them.
