Police Investigating Serious E-Scooter Collision in Welland

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 3 District (Welland/Fonthill) responded to a single-vehicle e-scooter collision in the City of Welland.

The investigation determined that a 31-year-old man was operating an e-scooter southbound on Niagara Street near Birch Street when he lost control and came to rest on the east sidewalk.

The rider was transported to an out-of-region hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His condition has since been upgraded to stable, and his injuries are no longer considered life-threatening.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., detectives with the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU), along with members of the Forensic Services Unit (FSU), attended the scene to assist with the investigation. The collision scene was processed and examined.

At this time, investigators do not believe any other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Officers from 3 District have carriage of the investigation, with technical assistance being provided by CRU.
