Police Investigating Serious Single-Vehicle Collision in St. Catharines
Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating following a single vehicle collision in the City of St. Catharines.
On Saturday, August 1, 2026, at approximately 6:40 a.m., uniform officers in 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) responded to reports of a collision that had occurred on the Welland Canal Parkway past the water treatment plant, where a vehicle had struck a hydro pole.
The driver, a 24-year-old man from Welland, was transported to hospital. While receiving medical care, his condition deteriorated, and he is now in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
The CRU has assumed carriage of the investigation. There is no evidence at this time that another vehicle was involved.
