Road Rage Incident Turned Assault Leads to Charges – Pelham
On September 3, 2026, at approximately 11:25 p.m., uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 3 District (Welland/Pelham), responded to reports of a Disturbance near the intersection of Highway 20 and Merrittville Highway in Pelham.
Officers arrived on scene to find the victim, a 64-year-old male resident of Pelham, with significant injuries. Initial investigation revealed that a road rage incident occurred on Highway 406 between the victim and two occupants, a male and female, from another vehicle. Both vehicles stopped near the intersection of Highway 20 and Merrittville Highway. All occupants exited their vehicles and engaged in a verbal argument which turned into a physical altercation.
The occupants of the other vehicle had fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The investigation was taken over by detectives with the 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB). Through their investigation, they were able to identify the two suspects involved.
On September 11, 2026, 30-year-old Megan WILLIAMS of Welland was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault.
On September 12, 2026, 31-year-old Donald MESSERVEY of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault.
Both WILLIAMS and MESSERVEY were released with future court dates.
