Update #1: 1 District Detectives Investigating St Catharines Shooting
Detectives with 1 District Criminal Investigative Branch (CIB) continue to investigate the Bunting Road shooting and have identified three suspects involved in this incident.
On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with assistance from 1 District Street Crime Unit (SCU), 2 District Street Crime Unit (SCU), and the Emergency Task Unit (ETU), the three suspects were arrested without incident in the cities of Niagara Falls and Thorold.
46-year-old Philip ENGLAND of British Columbia is charged with the following criminal offences:
- Robbery with a Firearm
- Kidnapping
- Aggravated Assault
- Attempted Murder
- Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound
- Possess Firearm Without Holding a License
- Possess Restricted Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License
- Possess Unloaded Regulated Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Utter Threats
35-year-old Devon LE of British Columbia is charged with the following criminal offences:
- Robbery with a Firearm
- Kidnapping
- Aggravated Assault
- Attempted Murder
- Discharge Firearm with Intent to Wound
- Possess Firearm Without Holding a License
- Possess Restricted Firearm Knowingly Not Holding a License
- Possess Unloaded Regulated Firearm
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
54-year-old Joseph DELGOBBO of Niagara Falls is charged with the following criminal offences:
- Accessory After the Fact to Commit Indictable Offence
ENGLAND, LE, and DELGOBBO remain in custody and are scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Thursday, August 8, 2026, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St Catharines.
A firearm was seized during the arrest, which is believed to be the firearm used in the Bunting Road shooting. Detectives have applied for a search warrant for a Niagara Falls residence, and an involved vehicle has been seized for forensic examination.

Original Media Release: 1 District Detectives Investigating St Catharines Shooting
On Thursday, July 16, 2026, at approximately 7:15 AM, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers responded to a plaza in the area of Bunting Road and Carlton Street in the City of St. Catharines for a shooting that just occurred.
Responding officers located a 39-year-old male with a gunshot wound and serious injuries. The male was transported to an out-of-region hospital by Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) with what was later determined to be non-life-threatening injuries. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.
The 1 District Detective’s office has taken carriage of the investigation. There is no risk to public safety. Detectives are appealing to the public for any information regarding this incident. Residents and businesses in the area of Bunting Road and Carlton Street are asked to review any video surveillance footage and contact police if anything suspicious is observed.
