Update #1: Mississauga Male Arrested in Thorold and Welland Search Warrants
Detectives with the 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) Street Crime Unit (SCU) continue to investigate this incident. Detectives have identified a third suspect, who was arrested in St. Catharines on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
30-year-old Jason ASANTE of Toronto is charged with the following criminal offence:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)
ASANTE was released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date.

Original Media Release: Mississauga Male Arrested in Thorold and Welland Search Warrants
In July of 2026, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District Street Crime Unit (St. Catharines/Thorold) commenced a drug investigation into a male selling suspected cocaine in the city of St. Catharines.
On September 1, 2026, detectives were granted judicial authorization to enter two separate addresses. The first at a McArthur Lane address in the city of Thorold and the second at a Willowlanding Court address in the city of Welland. The search warrants were executed with the assistance of 2 District Street Crime (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake).
1053.5 grams of suspected cocaine, with an approximate street value of $100,000.00, was seized at the Thorold address. $48,105.00 in Canadian currency and $20.00 in USD was seized at the Welland address. Another 30.4 grams of suspected cocaine and $100.00 USD were seized in the suspect’s vehicle.
30-year-old Ismail AHMED of Mississauga was arrested and charged with the following offences.
- Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) x2
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Personation to Obtain Property Interest (Fraud)
AHMED remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing September 2, 2026, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.
Detectives also arrested and charged 35-year-old Chantal FOURNIER of Welland with a single charge of Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000. FOURNIER was released with a future court date.
