Update #2: Second Suspected Arrested: Two Niagara Falls Men Wanted in Homicide Investigation

On Thursday, September 24, 2026, Brandon FITZGERALD was located and arrested in connection with the death of 37-year-old Matthew MCARA.

FITZGERALD was previously wanted for Second Degree Murder. Alexander PICCIRILLO was arrested on September 22, 2026. Both men are now charged with Second Degree Murder.

FITZGERALD is in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.

Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit continue to investigate the incident, which occurred on September 17, 2026, at a business on Lundy’s Lane near Hanan Avenue in Niagara Falls.

Update #1: 1 Arrested, 1 Outstanding: Two Niagara Falls Men Wanted in Homicide Investigation

On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, Alexander PICCIRILLO was arrested by 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers in Niagara Falls. PICCIRILLO remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.

Brandon FITZGERALD remains outstanding at this time and is wanted for 2nd Degree Murder. Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit continue to investigate this incident and are actively working to arrest FITZGERALD.

Media Release: Two Niagara Falls Men Wanted in Homicide Investigation

On Thursday, September 17, 2026, at approximately 6:22 PM, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers responded to a business on Lundy’s Lane near Hanan Avenue in the City of Niagara Falls for an assault.

Investigating officers located a male victim without vital signs, however after life-saving efforts by Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS), he was transported to local hospital with serious injuries. 2 District Criminal Investigations Branch (CIB) took carriage of the investigation, and it was determined that the male was assaulted by two suspects who subsequently fled the area. The two suspects were identified, and a search commenced with assistance from the Canine Unit.

On Monday, September 21, 2026, the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries, and the investigation was taken over by the Homicide Unit. The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Matthew MCARA.

31-year-old Brandon FITZGERALD of Niagara Falls is wanted for the following criminal offences:

46-year-old Alexander PICCIRILLO of Niagara Falls is wanted for the following criminal offences:

This is believed to be a targeted incident. Detectives are asking residents and businesses in the area of Lundy’s Lane and Hanan Avenue to review any video surveillance footage and contact police if the suspects are observed.
