On April 30, 2025, at 9:48 p.m., uniform officers from 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in St. Catharines. While en route, officers received further information indicating that two people had been stabbed and the suspect had fled the scene.

Officers attended the area of 45 Manchester Avenue, where they located the suspect walking nearby. At 9:57 p.m., the suspect was stopped and arrested by responding officers.

Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and St. Catharines Fire Services personnel attended the scene and located two adult males suffering from serious stab wounds. One victim was transported to a local hospital, while the other was airlifted by Ornge air ambulance to an out-of-region hospital.

Initial investigation determined that the three males had been inside a unit at the residence when a verbal argument escalated into violence. The two victims were stabbed with a knife.

Ricardo Tabora, 33, of no fixed address, has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Aggravated assault (two counts)

Tabora was held in custody for a video bail hearing at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on May 1, 2025.
