During May of 2025, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Street Crime Detectives assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) initiated an investigation into the trafficking of controlled substances in the Niagara Region.
Following a subsequent investigation, on Tuesday May 6, 2025, two suspects were arrested at a Thorold residence.
As a result, detectives received judicial authorization to execute a search warrant where they located and seized the following:
- 215.2 grams of suspected fentanyl (estimated street value of over $15, 000)
- 19.2 grams of suspected crack-cocaine (estimated street value of $19,000)
- Over $29,000 in Canadian currency
- A black Glock 19 handgun with 4 rounds of ammunition
39-year-old Robert Scott (no fixed address) was arrested and is facing the following charges:
- Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl), contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine), contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime over $5000, contrary to Section 355(a) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of Unauthorized Firearm, contrary to Section 92(1) of the Criminal Code
- Careless Storage of a Firearm, contrary to Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a loaded Regulated Firearm, contrary to Section 95(1) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a Firearm without Holding a License, contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order, contrary to Section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code
30-year-old Holly Selseotes, of Niagara Falls was also arrested and is facing the following charges:
- Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl), contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine), contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime over $5000, contrary to Section 355(a) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of Unauthorized Firearm, contrary to Section 92(1) of the Criminal Code
- Careless Storage of a Firearm, contrary to Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a loaded Regulated Firearm, contrary to Section 95(1) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of a Firearm without Holding a License, contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code
- Operation while Prohibited, contrary to Section 320.18 of the Criminal Code
Both Scott and Selseotes were held for bail on Wednesday May 7, 2025, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
