As part of the ongoing investigation, detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) have re-arrested a West Lincoln man in connection with a child luring case first announced on April 3, 2025.

On May 2, 2025, as a result of further investigative efforts, Johnathan Jeffrey AHLSTEDT was taken into custody by NRPS detectives.

AHLSTEDT is now facing the following additional Criminal Code charges:

  • Telecommunication with a person under, or believed to be under, 18 for the purpose of facilitating the making of child pornography – Section 172.1(1)(a)
  • Make available sexually explicit material to a person under, or believed to be under, 18 – Section 171.1(1)(a)
  • Unlawful possession of child pornography – Section 163.1(4)
  • Telecommunication with a person under, or believed to be under, 16 for the purpose of facilitating the making of child pornography – Section 172.1(1)(b)
  • Telecommunication with a person under, or believed to be under, 18 for the purpose of facilitating an invitation to sexual touching – Section 172.1(1)(a)

Johnathan Jeffrey AHLSTEDT remains in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for May 3, 2025, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse, located at 59 Church Street in St. Catharines.
