Arrest Made in Child Abuse Investigation – Fort Erie

In July 2022, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to the Child Abuse Unit (CAU) commenced an investigation into an allegation of child sexual abuse having occurred inside a residential dwelling in the Town of Fort Erie.

Sean SCHNEIDER (50 years) of Fort Erie has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

          • Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 Years of Age

          • Sexual Interference with a Person Under 16 Years of Age

On June 21, 2022, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) detectives assigned to the Central Fraud Unit (CFU) obtained photographs of a suspect wanted in connection with a fraud investigation where an elderly complainant was deceived into believing her grandson had been arrested by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and was in immediate need of assistance in order to be released from custody.

NRPS Officers Investigating “Yellow Fluid Bottle” Incidents Across Niagara

In mid May and into early July of 2022 the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) has been investigating multiple incidents of plastic bottles being thrown onto residents’ properties.

More than 50 incidents have occurred across Niagara on the Lake, Grimsby, Niagara Falls, St. Catharines, Thorold, Pelham and Welland.  The incidents are believed to be occurring overnight.  The residents awake to find a plastic bottle containing an unknown yellow fluid on their property, sometimes in the backyard. 

Sexual Assault Unit Detectives Investigating St. Catharines Incident – Update 1

Detectives from the NRPS Sexual Assault Unit continue to investigate this incident.  As a result of the ongoing investigation detectives have identified the involved male and the Victoria Lawn Cemetery in St. Catharines.

No arrests have been made.  The investigation remains ongoing.

There is no ongoing threat to public safety stemming from this incident.

Sexual Assault Unit Detectives Investigating St. Catharines Incident

On July 4, 2022, 1 District St. Catharines/Thorold uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a sexual assault.

The initial investigation determined that the sexual assault occurred on July 4, 2022, between 8:30am and 9:30am in a cemetery in St. Catharines. The female victim is a ride-share driver who was sexually assaulted by an armed male customer in the cemetery.  The sexual assault occurred in a white Nissan Altima.
