Collision with a Pole and a Stop Sign in St. Catharines Results in Impaired Driving Charge

On June 28, 2022, at 8:50 pm, 1 District St. Catharines uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in St. Catharines.

A member of the public contacted the NRPS Communications Unit after they watched a white 1999 Pontiac Grand-Am at the intersection of Lake Street and Dufferin Street in the City of St. Catharines strike a telephone pole and stop sign.   The now damaged Pontiac then fled the scene.

On June 27, 2022, an investigation by the Niagara Regional Police Service Human Trafficking Unit concluded with Tasha Lynn SUMMERS (38 years old) of St. Catharines being charged with the following offences:

  • Trafficking in Persons Under the Age of Eighteen Years, S.279.011 (1) CC
  • Material Benefit-Trafficking Person Under Eighteen Years, S.279.02(2) CC
  • Material Benefit from Sexual Service Provided by Person Under 18, S.286.2 (2) CC
  • Procuring Person Under 18 Years, S. 286.3(2) CC

The Niagara Regional Police Service continues to search for missing 58-year-old Darren Werner of the Town of Niagara on the Lake.

Darren Werner was reported missing on September 17, 2021 and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
