On July 29, 2023, at 11:06pm 6 District (Port Colborne / Wainfleet) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a Port Colborne residence for a report of a stabbing.

NRPS Officers and Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics arrived on scene on Kinnear Street near Davis Street. They found a 60-year-old man suffering from serious stab injuries. The victim was transported by paramedics to a local hospital for further care. The initial investigation determined that a verbal argument had escalated to violence.

Detectives from the 3 District detective office were assigned to the investigation. They were assisted by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit. Detectives continue to investigate this matter to develop suspect information. It is believed the suspect and victim were known to each other.
