On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, 8 District - Grimsby uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) were called to 16 damage / mischief incidents in the Town of Lincoln (Vineland and Vineland Station area).
As a result of the ongoing investigation, it was reported in most of the incidents that a suspect drove up to the various complainant’s addresses, exited his vehicle and then threw a stone/brick through the windows of the various complainants’ vehicles. In these incidents the complainants’ vehicles were parked either in their driveways or on the street in front of their address. In one incident the suspect threw a large rock (approximately 60 lbs.) through a window of a residence.
A witness described the suspect as being a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, believed to be shirtless, wearing dark pants and a dark baseball hat. The witness stated that the suspect was operating a dark-coloured car similar to a Honda Civic.
In another incident the male suspect arrived in a small grey/silver car wearing dark shorts, no shirt, and a medical mask. The male was described as white, tall, thin and was wearing a blue surgical style mask.
The suspect is unknown, and no surveillance of the suspect has been located as of yet.
Cumulative damage is expected to be in excess of $20,000.
8 District detectives have been assigned to investigate the incidents.
The incidents occurred in the following areas:
- North Service Road near 15th Street (five incidents)
- Westwood Trace near Vinehaven Trail (two incidents)
- Dustan Street near Edgewood Crescent (two incidents)
- Magnolia Drive near King Street (two incidents)
- Magnolia Drive near Azalea Crescent (five incidents)
- South Shore Boulevard near Dustan Street (one incident)
- Lake Street near Bal Harbour Drive (one incident)
The incidents are believed to have occurred between 2:00am and 5:30am on June 28, 2022. Anyone (residents or businesses) in the area with closed circuit security cameras, doorbell video cameras, or operational dash cameras are asked to review their footage for suspicious activity for the period when the offences are believed to have occurred.
Some of the stones that were used to damage the windows are similar to garden and / or driveway stones. Members of the public who find they are missing similar stones are asked to contact the detectives (see photo).
