On March 17, 2017, 1 District St. Catharines uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a report of a large street party on Jacobson Street between Glendale Avenue and Oakmount Drive.
In excess of 3500 young adults held impromptu street and front lawn parties to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
The incident resulted in a number of complaints of noise, drunkenness, and littering. Officers on-scene were the targets of thrown beer containers and snowballs.
A number of officers from around the Niagara Region were called in to help disperse the revelers. The area was cleared by 7:30PM; with no injuries reported.
An investigation into the disturbances is ongoing by NRPS 1 District officers.
