  • Suspect In Custody After Stranger Sexual Assault – Welland

    On Sunday August 31, 2025, at 8:59am Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 3 District (Welland / Pelham) responded alongside Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics to a residential address located near Crowland Avenue and York Street, in the City of Welland for a medical assistance call involving a child under the age of 5.

    Upon arrival, uniform patrol officers observed the front door to the residence showing signs of having been forced open.  Further observations confirmed the involved child was suffering from serious injuries prompting an immediate criminal investigation.  The child was assessed at the residence and transported by paramedics to an out-of-region hospital for advanced medical care.  The child remains in hospital at this time and is listed in stable condition.

  • Collision Reconstruction Detectives Investigating Motorcycle Fatality – Niagara Falls

    On August 29, 2025, at 5:57pm Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara-on-the-Lake) responded alongside the Niagara Falls Fire Department (NFFD) and Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS) paramedics for a motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Marineland Parkway and Portage Road in the City of Niagara Falls.

    Initial investigation has determined a grey 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling South on Marineland Parkway approaching Portage Road when the driver, a 43 year old male resident of St. Catharines lost control and was ejected.  The driver, who was the sole occupant on the motorcycle sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital by paramedics.  Tragically, the driver succumbed to his injuries in hospital and was pronounced deceased.

  • Detectives Looking for Assistance in Locating Missing 14-Year-Old Girl - LOCATED

    The investigation to locate missing person Miley CORDEIRO has been ongoing by detectives assigned to 1 District (St. Catharines / Thorold).

    Miley has been located and is safe.

    The NRPS has removed Miley’s photo from the original media release and our social media for her privacy.  We ask the public and media outlets to consider doing the same.

  • Detectives Looking for Assistance in Locating Missing 14-Year-Old Girl

    Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) are requesting the public’s assistance in locating 14-year-old Miley CORDEIRO.

    Miley was last seen August 27, 2025, in Welland, Ontario, and is known to have ties to Caledonia, Ontario.  Detectives have concern for her safety.

    Miley is described as follows

    • Female
    • White
    • 5 ft tall
    • Slender build
    • Long brown hair
    • Blue eyes
    •  Black sweatshirt
    • Cargo style sweatpants
    • Black adidas backpack
    • Black shoes.

  • UPDATE 1 – ARREST - Suspect To Identify In Sexual Assault On Youth in Niagara Falls Store

    Niagara Falls, ON – Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Sexual Assault Unit (SAU) would like to thank members of the public for their swift assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a sexual assault.

    On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a youth male victim was groped by an unknown male while shopping with his mother inside a store located in the Town and Country Plaza on Portage Road (between Colborne Street and Huggins Street) in Niagara Falls.

  • Update 1 – Detectives Investigating Motor Vehicle Collision involving a Pedestrian in Port Colborne

    Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continued their investigation into a collision that occurred on February 7, 2025, in Port Colborne, in which a pedestrian was struck.  That pedestrian later died of the injuries sustained in that collision.

    On August 28, 2025, detectives charged a 39-year-old male from Port Colborne with Careless Driving Causing Death, contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act section 130(3).

    The male is scheduled to appear in court on a later date.

  • Suspect To Identify In Sexual Assault On Youth in Niagara Falls Store

    Niagara Falls, ON - Detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Sexual Assault Unit (SAU) are asking the for the public’s assistance in identifying a male suspect following a sexual assault.

    On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., a youth male victim was shopping with his mother inside a store located in the Town and Country Plaza on Portage Road (between Colborne Street and Huggins Street) when he was assaulted.

    The victim was groped by an unknown adult male who then fled the store on foot. He was last seen running northbound through the plaza.

  • Niagara Regional Police Launch 25th Annual Back-to-School Traffic Safety and Awareness Day

    As summer comes to an end, students across Niagara will return to school on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. To mark the occasion, the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) will be conducting its 25th annual Back-to-School Traffic Safety and Awareness Day.

    This long-standing initiative brings together senior officers, members of specialty units, and uniform patrol officers to enhance traffic safety in and around school zones. This year, more than 50 additional officers will be deployed across Niagara as part of this important campaign.

  • NRPS Investigating Overnight Mischief in West Lincoln

    On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m. uniform members of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) assigned to 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) responded to a residence in the area of Concession Road 2 and Caistorville Road in West Lincoln for a reported mischief call.

    The initial investigation determined that an unknown suspect arrived at an unoccupied residential address that was under construction on a motorcycle. The suspect walked around the area and smashed several of the residential windows.

  • Firearms Stolen in St. Catharines Break and Enter

    On Sunday, August 24th, 2025, officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) were dispatched to a Break and Enter call at a business on Geneva Street near Ted Street in St. Catharines.

    Investigation revealed that a male broke into a building and stole several items including six firearms that were secured in a gun cabinet.  The gun cabinet was located nearby, empty.  The firearms have not been recovered.

    Detectives with the 1 District Street Crime Unit (SCU) took carriage of the investigation and have identified males involved in this case.
