The recruiting procedure for an auxiliary officer is similar to that of a regular police officer. The Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) expects and accepts nothing less than the best.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have the following:
- Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
- 18 years of age or over
- Able to successfully complete standard physical fitness tests
- Successful completion of Ontario Grade 12 (OSSGD) or its equivalent
- Valid non-probationary drivers license, class “G” or inter provincial equivalent
- Free of criminal convictions for which a pardon has not been granted, and
- Be of good moral character
Physical Test
If you pass the written portion, you may advance to the next stage in the recruitment process, the physical. This test involves running, push-ups, core, and flexibility. Applicants must follow the proper procedures when performing each component.

Application
Applications are accepted during the fall of each year. Please keep an eye for the Auxiliary Constable position to be posted on our website and social media accounts for application dates. Please note: when the Auxiliary Constable position is posted only applications submitted electronically through this website will be accepted.
