The Niagara Regional Police Service would like to warn the public about a Facebook Marketplace Scam that has been on the rise. 
Detectives have received information that fake sellers on Facebook Marketplace are posting items for sale on a fake Facebook account however they are asking the buyers for an e-transfer as a deposit before receiving the item. Detectives from the 2 District – Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake office of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) are searching for missing person Galextra Kavanaugh. Galextra also goes by the name of Selma Paul.

She was last seen on Monday, May 27, 2024, at approximately 1:55pm, in the area of Lundy’s Lane and Montrose Road in Niagara Falls.  Her means of travel is unknown.

Galextra is described as:

  • Black female
  • 5’6 feet tall
  • Brown eyes

In an effort to bring further attention and deterrence to driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, the Niagara Regional Police Service will be reporting the names of those people who are charged with an alleged criminal impaired driving offence in the Region.

Public Notice of Police Training – NRPS ETU Training - West Main Street, Stevensville

On Wednesday May 29th, 2024, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. the Niagara Regional Police Service Emergency Task Unit (ETU) will be conducting a training exercise.  The training will take place in the area of the West Main Street and Old Mill Road in Stevensville.

Members of the public in the area should expect:

  • An increased police presence
  • The sound of simulated gun fire
  • The sound of controlled explosions
