In March of 2019, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (I.C.E.) commenced an investigation into the sexual exploitation of children.
The investigation into the child exploitation material led to a St. Catharines resident. In January of 2020, members assigned to the Niagara Regional Police Service's I.C.E. Unit, concluded their investigation, which resulted in the identification of a suspect.

On January 7, 2020 during the early morning hours, 6 District (Port Colborne) uniform officers were on patrol in the area of Hwy 3 and Quarry Road Port Colborne.
The officers on patrol came across two males who were attempting to charge a golf cart at a church in the area.
A subsequent investigation revealed the two males had allegedly broken into a rural property in Wainfleet earlier in the evening and stolen the golf cart and other property.

At approximately 12:10am on Thursday January 9, 2020 8 District (Grimsby) uniform officers were called to the area of Dunrobin Ln and Winston Rd following the reports of a male shot.
Investigation has revealed that a male was involved in an altercation and was subsequently shot.
A 36-year-old male was taken to an out-of-town hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
At this time the investigation is on-going by the 8 District detective office.
