During the month of August 2020, the Niagara Regional Police Service St.Catharines Street Crime Unit began investigating the sale of illicit drugs by multiple individuals from two residences in the city of Thorold. The addresses being in the area of Clairmont Street near Chapel Street South and Chapel Street South near Portland Street.

On August 27, 2020, at approximately 1:30pm emergency service personnel responded the area of Sherkston Beach on Lake Erie in the City of Port Colborne for a report of a possible drowning.
The initial investigation by 6 District – Port Colborne uniform officers arriving on scene determined that 6 persons (two adult males and four children under 13 years old) had been in the water when they became distressed in the 5-6 foot waves.

On August 25, 2020, at approximately 7:05pm, 3 District – Welland uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a weapons call in the area of Colbeck Drive and Stormm Court in Welland.

In December of 2019 the Niagara Regional Police Service Central Fraud Unit commenced an investigation regarding an allegation of fraud.
The investigation determined that between August and September of 2019 a local business was defrauded in excess of $100, 000 by a male suspect. Detectives have determined the identity of the suspect.
