The Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Service Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Superintendent Mario Lagrotteria of the Niagara Regional Police Service as our Deputy Chief of Police effective March 14, 2025. Deputy Chief Lagrotteria is the newest member of the Executive Command Team serving as our third Deputy Chief of Police, Community Services.

Male Arrested and Charged with Break and Enter in St. Catharines

In December of 2024, detectives with 1 District Street Crime (St. Catharines/Thorold) with the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into a break and enter that occurred in the area of Centre Street and Court Street in the City of St. Catharines.
Investigation revealed a male suspect had broken into an apartment at this location, stole a coin collection worth over $10,000 and left the residence.
As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify the male suspect.

In January of 2025, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) Street Crime detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service began an investigation into break and enters that were occurring at dealerships and auto repair shops, in the City of St. Catharines.
Investigation revealed the suspect was breaking into the businesses, taking key fobs, then stealing the vehicle linked to the key.
As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify a male suspect responsible.
