On August 25, 2020, at approximately 7:05pm, 3 District – Welland uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a weapons call in the area of Colbeck Drive and Stormm Court in Welland.

In December of 2019 the Niagara Regional Police Service Central Fraud Unit commenced an investigation regarding an allegation of fraud.
The investigation determined that between August and September of 2019 a local business was defrauded in excess of $100, 000 by a male suspect. Detectives have determined the identity of the suspect.

Between August 19, 2020 and August 21, 2020 the Niagara Regional Police Service received reports of nighttime break and enters to occupied residences.
As a result of the joint efforts of #1 District (St. Catharines) Uniform Patrol Officers, #3 District (Welland) Patrol Officers and the #3 District Detective Office a suspect was identified as being Jacob O'Neal, aged 32 years, of the City of Welland.
In the early morning hours of August 21, 2020, Mr. O'Neal was arrested without incident.

On Thursday August 20, 2020, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Niagara Regional Police were called to the area of Dixon Street and Locus Avenue in the City of Niagara Falls for a report of a robbery.
Police located a male victim who had been robbed by 2 males who had fled the area prior to police arrival. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and later released. The victim and suspects were known to one another.
