NRPS Investigating Mountain Road Fatal Collision – Lincoln

On August 31, 2024, at 8:17pm emergency service personnel responded to a report of a serious collision in the Town of Lincoln.

8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) along with Niagara Emergency Medical Services paramedics and Lincoln Fire Services attended the scene on Mountain Road at Spring Creek Road.  The initial investigation determined that a 2014 GMC Sierra pickup and a 1974 MG had collided.

Two Impaired Arrests During Labour Day Weekend R.I.D.E Campaign

On Friday, August 30th, 2024, members of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) conducted R.I.D.E. spot checks in the Cities of Welland and Thorold.

Throughout the night, officers stopped approximately 700 vehicles and inquired if any of the drivers had consumed any alcohol or drugs earlier in the evening.  In total, 20 drivers were required to provide a sample of their breath for analysis.

Prohibited E Scooter Operation Leads to Arrest and Drug Trafficking Charges – Niagara Falls

On August 29, 2024, detectives from the 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake) Street Crime Unit observed a male operating an electric scooter on Morrison Street in the City of Niagara Falls.

NRPS Investigating Nighttime Residential Break In – Welland – Update 1 – ARREST

Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service Child Abuse Unit, 3 District (Welland/Pelham) detective office and the Forensics Services Unit have been investigating this incident since it occurred.

As a result of the investigation detectives were able to identify a suspect.  On August 29, 2024, 3 District Street Crime Unit detectives arrested Sean M. Mezo (39 years) of Welland.   Mezo has been charged with the Criminal Code offences of:

• Break Enter Commit – Sexual Assault
• Sexual Interference

Uploads of Child Sexual Abuse Material Result in Arrest of St. Catharines Man

In May of 2024, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Detectives assigned to the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit began an investigation into the uploading and sharing of Child Sexual Abuse Material over a social media platform.
