The Niagara Regional Police is appealing to the public to be on the look out for missing person Berhanei Peynado (40 years.)
Peynado had been visiting Ontario from his home province of British Columbia. When he missed his flight home on November 16, 2021, concern developed for his welfare.
Further investigation determined that on November 15, 2021, Peynado was dropped off at a hotel on Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls.

November 23, 2021 – Update 1
As a result of the investigation, on November 23, 2021, the 80 year old female from Jordan, Ontario, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
- Operation While Impaired Causing Death contrary to section 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Operation 80 mgs and over contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Causing Death by Criminal Negligence contrary to section 220(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

On November 20, 2021, #3 District – Welland officers responded to a threat’s complaint in the City of Welland. An investigation by members of the Welland Detective Office resulted in Joshua Nuziato (23 years / Welland) being identified as the person responsible for the threat.
Nuziato was later observed operating a vehicle in the City of Welland and uniform patrol officers did conduct a traffic stop. Nuziato fled the scene at a high rate of speed. A brief pursuit ensured, however...

On November 20, 2021, at approximately 4:15PM emergency services personnel responded to a report of a fire at the Ma Chinese Cuisine Restaurant located at 123 Geneva Street in St. Cathairnes.

On Friday November 19th, 2021, members of both #2 District - Niagara Falls uniform patrol and the Detective Services Unit commenced an investigation into an alleged threats call where a male threatened to shoot another male.
As a result of the investigation, Detectives sought and were subsequently granted a search warrant for a Niagara Falls motel.
The search yielded a 9mm Glock pistol, 15 rounds of ammunition, fentanyl with a street value of $12400 as well as $1600 in Canadian currency.
