The scene has been released. No foul play is suspected. Out of respect for the next of kin, the identity of the deceased is not being released.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the office of the Ontario Fire Marshal.

On Monday, December 28th, 2020, at approximately 6:00 p.m., 2 District (Niagara Falls) uniform officers attended the area of Bridge Street and Sixth Avenue, in the City of Niagara Falls, in response to a report of a collision.

On December 28, 2020, at approximately 4:48am, 5 District (Fort Erie) Uniform Officers, with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), the Fort Erie Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, attended a residence in the area of Crescent Road and Englewood Court, in the City of Fort Erie in regards to a house fire.
