On Sunday, June 28th, 2020, at approximately 9:00pm, 1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers were called to Sunset Beach in the City of St. Catharines, in regards to a disturbance call.
Initial investigation revealed that 5 people were sprayed with bear mace and 3 people were assaulted, as a result of an altercation. During the altercation, a male had brandished a knife, as well.

On June 27, 2020, Fort Erie Detectives and the Emergency Tactical Unit executed a CDSA drug warrant, at a residence in the area of Forsythe Street and Waterloo Street, in the Town of Fort Erie.
As a result of the search, police seized crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, and heroin with an estimated street value of approximately $17,750. Police also seized $1420 cash, a shotgun and ammunition.

At approximately 5:30am on Monday June 29, 2020, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers were called to a residential building in the area of Front Street N and Albert St E in the City of Thorold following the report of a fire.
The units were evacuated and Thorold Fire and Emergency Services were able to get the fire under control.
Further investigation led to the discovery of a deceased 55 year old male inside one of the units.

On Monday, June 29, 2020 at approximately 4:30am, 2 District (Niagara Falls), uniform officers, K9, OPP uniform officers and the Niagara Falls Fire Department, attended the area of Valley Way and Stanley Avenue, in the City of Niagara Falls, in regards to a house fire.
Officers arrived on scene and observed the rear of the residence, to be fully engulfed in flames.
Investigation has revealed that the fire is believed to be the result of an arson.

Further investigation by officers with the 1 District (St. Catharines) Detective Office has resulted in charges in this investigation.
44 year old John Mitchell of Hamilton is facing the following charges:
- 282(1) Abuduction in contravention of custody or parenting order
- 127(1) Disobeying order of the court
Mitchell is currently being held in custody pending a video bail hearing on Monday June 29, 2020 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
