In an effort to bring further attention and deterrence to driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, the Niagara Regional Police Service will be reporting the names of those people who are charged with an alleged criminal impaired driving offence in the Region.
In addition to being charged, these individuals are also bound by a Ministry of Transportation 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and are prohibited...

It was 10 years ago today, that Livia Beirnes was murdered in her Oakwood Avenue home in St. Catharines.
On August 4th, 2010, at approximately 8:50 pm, emergency responders attended 11 Oakwood Avenue in the City of St. Catharines, to the report of a house fire. At the time, 76 year old Livia Beirnes lived alone in the residence.
Many area residents rushed to the scene in an effort to assist. Mrs. Beirnes could be heard calling for help from the basement level of the home. Firefighters arrived...

On Monday, August 3rd, 2020, members of the Niagara Regional Police attended the Cities of Port Colborne and St. Catharines to conduct R.I.D.E. checkpoints.
Officers stopped approximately 600 vehicles throughout the afternoon and early evening. Of the vehicles stopped, a total of 26 drivers were administered a roadside screening test. Four of these drivers provided samples in the warning range and subsequently, had their drivers licences suspended for three days.

On July 28th, 2020, 6 District (Port Colborne) uniform officers responded to the area of Minto Street and Elm Street, in the City of Port Colborne, in regards to a theft from vehicle, that had occurred overnight.
6 District Officers commenced an investigation and were able to identify a suspect, in this matter.
On August 1st, 2020, the suspect was located and arrested.

On Saturday, July 25, 2020, at approximately 1:00pm, 2 District (Niagara Falls) uniform officers were called to a report of an assault in the area of King Street and Picton Street in Niagara on the Lake.
