ADVISORY: Notice of Police Services Board Meeting on June 22, 2023

The media and public are invited to view the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Regional Municipality of Niagara Police Services Board on Thursday, June 22, 2023.  The public portion of the meeting will begin at 9:30 am and can be viewed live on the link Niagara Region Police Services Board - YouTube

UPDATE 1 – Homicide detectives investigating following St. Catharines shooting

As part of the ongoing investigation into the deadly shooting on Saturday June 10, 2023, detectives with the Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit have arrested a male suspect.

46-year-old Donovan Williams of Brampton is facing the following charges:

• First degree murder
• Attempted murder
• Fail to comply with undertaking 

Williams is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Tuesday June 13, 2023, at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.

Homicide detectives investigating following St. Catharines shooting

On Saturday June 10, 2023, at approximately 9:35pm, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers were called to the area of St. Paul Street West and Louth in the City of St. Catharines, following the report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they located an adult male and adult female with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds.  The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Detectives investigating fatal collision in NOTL

On Saturday June 10, 2023, at approximately 11:40am, 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake) uniform officers were called to a single vehicle collision in the area of Lakeshore Road near Old Lakeshore Road in the Town of Niagara on the Lake.

When they arrived, they located a single vehicle that had struck a tree.  Niagara Emergency Medical Services (NEMS) paramedics were on scene providing treatment to the 49-year-old female driver who was the only occupant of the vehicle.

NRPS Investigating Residential Break and Enter and Theft of Collectables in Lincoln

On May 21, 2023, 8 District – Grimsby uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a residential break and enter in Lincoln.

The initial investigation determined that sometime between May 10 and May 21, 2023, an unknown suspect entered a home through a basement window.  The suspect stole a Sentry locked 2 feet by 2 feet safe.
