Former Principal of Heritage Christian School Arrested in Relation to Sexual Assault

Since October of 2024, the Sexual Assault Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service have been investigating a historical sexual assault call that occurred in the Niagara Region.

Investigation revealed a 56-year-old male had sexually assaulted a female from the age of 11-14 years old.

As a result of the investigation detectives have determined that the suspect was a Principal at Heritage Christian School in Jordan, Ontario and has significant ties in the Christian Community.

On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at approximately 11:52pm, 3 District (Welland/Fonthill) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of South Pelham Road and Sumbler Road in the City of Welland for a possible attempt abduction.

UPDATE 1 - Arrest following St. Catharines Homicide

Following further investigation, Homicide Detectives are now releasing the identity of the male victim in this investigation.

57-year-old Courtney Thomas of St. Catharines was pronounced deceased following the interaction at a residence.

On Thursday, October 10, 2024, at approximately 10:45pm, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of St Paul Street West and Edith Street in the City of St. Catharines in response to a stabbing.
